Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa unveiled the postal stamp of Kannada Movie icon Dr. Raj Kumar at the Banquet hall of Vidhana Soudha .According to sources, a postal stamp of Dr. Rajkumar will be released on November 1st which is the Kannada Rajyotsava Day. The stamp featuring the matinee idol will cost Rs 5 and sources indicate that the postal department is planning to release about four lakh such stamps. Though the stamps are released only after ten years after the death of the personality, this stamp is being released early due the intervention of the Prime Minister's office. This is for the first time that the rules have been made liberal.The actor who had acted in more than 205 films has won the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. The release of this postal stamp that too on the Karantaka Rajyothsava day has made me very happy. This is very special for the people of Karnataka as Dr. Raj Kumar reached the peak of achievement by his hard work and dedication in the field of art’ said the Chief Minister while thanking the Postal Department for recognizing the contribution made by Dr. Raj Kumar. ‘The life sketch of Dr. Raj Kumar is a model to the people of Karnataka. He showed his class and remained as a Dhruva Thaare (Dhruva Star) in the field of cinema. His achievement are unparallel’ added the Chief Minister. Karnataka’s Chief Post Master General M.P.Rajan disclosed that the postal department has so far released thirty stamps of important personalities in the state of Karnataka. Dr. Raj Kumar is the thirtieth personality from Karnataka to receive this honour while Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah was the first Kanndiga to have received this honour, said M.P.Rajan. He also added that Dr. Raj Kumar is the thirty first film personality to be honoured with the stamp. He said that the sales of the stamp will begin on November 3.
