Chintamani is a town and a City Municipal Council in Chikkaballapura district in the state of Karnataka, India. This town is named after its founder Chintamani Rao, a maratha Chieftain.it is located at a distance of about 75 Km away from Bangalore Varadaraja Temple

The Important temple in the town is Varadanjeneya Temple. This temple is situated on the hill and as one cannot reach the top in a vehicle we have to trek the hill through the stony steps.Thus it is a place which is peaceful and has immense scenic beauty as it is situated on the hill.
The Murugmulla Dargah of Fakhi Shah Wali about 8 Kms from Chintamani,draws thousands of pilgrims from all over the country.
Kaiwara: This town is associated with the epic, Mahabharatha. known as Ekchakrapura, this is where the pandavas lived in exile,incognito,Bhima, one of the pandava brothers is said to have killed the asura(demon) bakasura, who was tormenting the people, myth has it that a nearby cave in the hill, contains the corpse of the demon, which supposedly drips blood during Shivaratri . There is a garden complex in complex in kaivara, containing gardens and musical fountains. Also in the gardens are five cottages named after the pandavas and a mini Zoo with herbarium. the temples of Amaranarayana and Bhimeswara as well as the Yogi Narayana ashram are worth a visit

As per the 2005 Census, the total population in the Taluk is 271284 persons, comprising 138311 Male, 132973 Female. Of the total population 205791 persons are staying in rural areas, 65493 are staying in Urban areas. Sex ratio in the Taluk is 961 females per thousand males.
Entrepreneurship depends upon the level of literacy among the people of an area. Literacy promotes entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship in turn helps in promoting industrial development. As per 2001 Census there are 142976 literate persons in the Taluk, of whom, 85797 are Males and 57179 are Females. Percentage of literate population in the Taluk is 60.5%. Male literacy is 71.2% and Female 49.3% in the Taluk.
The Taluk has two Degree college, one Polytechnic, 12 Pre-Universities and 20 High Schools. The educated persons from the above colleges / training institutions could be utilized by the industries in the Taluk.
In the Taluk 6690 persons have registered in live register of employment exchange, Kolar, as on 30.06.2006. Of the total 6690 persons registered with employment exchange, 4818 are Male and 1872 are Female. The details are given in Table below.
